Sean & Brittany’s Stormy Engagement Session in Downtown Seattle
Being a wedding photographer based out of Seattle, the wind and rain isn’t anything horribly new to me or really any of my clients. We had to reschedule already once before for their engagement session but we decided that if it was stormy come time to shoot, we were just going to go for it! And that’s what we did!
We started this downtown Seattle engagement session over at Pikes Place! Although it was a Sunday night, it was still fairly busy and we were having trouble finding some spots that allowed us to shoot without a ton of people in the background. We opted to head down to the water and seriously, these two were such troopers because it was COLD. Like poor Brittany’s fingers were bright red from being so cold! We photographed a little bit down by the Ferris Wheel but then decided to go walk around some gift shops to give everyone a chance to warm back up!
I strategically scheduled our session around sunset so we’d also be able to capture some of the gorgeous city lights once the light got lower. Because of how stormy it was, we lost light alot faster and headed over to the pier! The wind was SO strong that it literally BROKE one of our umbrellas! Like destroyed it! I think that was the hardest I’d ever laughed at an engagement session because I was able to photograph them walking and fighting the wind with their umbrella. And they were laughing at me too because picture me attempting to take some photos all while trying not to get blown over! It was an adventure for sure!
We finally hit the pier and got some of my favorite pictures to date for a Seattle engagement session! Seriously, the lights were perfect and so were these two. If their ability to handle tough sitautions like rain and wind for their session reflects on them as a couple, I’d say that they’re in for a long and happy marriage. They were kind and funny and I didn’t hear a negative peep out of them! I am so looking forward to shooting their wedding in just a few short months at Hidden Meadows!
