I wanted to start off by saying that is such an honor for Zack & Katelyn to have not only chosen me to photograph their wedding day, but to fly me across the country to do so! I had never been to the East Coast before (well, except maybe Florida to Disneyworld…but I don’t count that) so I was super excited to get to experience another place! I had heard about New England’s incredible autumn seasons and all that it had to offer, but I was unsure of how the spring season would be! But seriously, it is absolutely STUNNING! I never imagined the trees to have such a combination of colors even in the Spring time! I’m so used to green trees everywhere, all the time here in the Pacific Northwest that to see such a variety of color this time of year was amazing! I got to experience it all the way from the airport in Burlington to Montpelier – about a 45 minute drive. I stayed at the most adorable Bed & Breakfast right within walking distance from the town. Now, being born and raised in Western Washington, I’m used to the hustle and bustle that the greater Seattle provides. But, spending some time in a place where things were quiet & simple was truly so refreshing. I have to say that I probably would’ve never made it out to New England had I not been given this amazing opportunity just because it’s quite a ways away! But, I’m already planning on another trip to explore out there more! The only negative thing I have to say is that I wasn’t there longer!
Now, backtracking to when I met these two lovebirds! I met them this past summer when they were visiting Washington. Zack is from here and met Katelyn out in Vermont where they both attended college! Although Zack & I went to the same high school, he was a year younger than me so we never met. However, I did know of his family and was connected to them when a mutual friend suggested me to photograph their engagement photos! You can view their engagement session here! We had such a great time together and they loved their photos so much that they wanted to fly me out for their wedding! How could I not accept?!
Fast forward to their wedding day – it seemed as if I brought the Seattle rain with me because I woke up to cloudy skies and some rain. However, being a Washingtonian my entire life (and photographing weddings here for 3 years), it didn’t really phase me! I am definitely used to photographing weddings in the rain so I knew we’d be okay! Their day was filled with so much emotion and laughter. Their families and friends truly made me feel like I was apart of the family! I am so excited to share their highlights from their big day!
Her flower girl was ADORABLE! We put her in heels and Katelyn’s wedding gown!
Such a sweet moment… Zack was so emotional seeing her for the first time!
I loved this moment so much that I had to include it – Zack’s brother hugging their mom! She was so emotional!
I LOVED their exit from the church!
Can we talk about all those colors on the trees?!
I think it’s so cool that all of Zack’s groomsmen are in various branches of the military!
Swords and beer… what could be better?
I thought it was so sweet that Zack included a Mother/Son dance with his step-mom!
We truly made the most out of this rain with these night shots!!!
