Zion National Park Anniversary Session | Stephen & Kori

Sunset Zion National Park Anniversary Session

Eeeek! I’m so excited to finally share photos from Stephen & Kori’s incredible session at Zion National Park! If you didn’t already know, I’ve been photographing their anniversary photos for the past three years! We always go on such amazing adventures and it’s always a great time! This year, we decided to do something even more epic than we’ve done before! And the best part? They got to finally announce that they’re soon to be a family of three! YES! They’re EXPECTING a little bundle in March! I seriously could’ve cried when Kori told me and I just wanted to shout it to the world… but, of course, I kept it quiet so we could make sure that these photos were even more epic than we initially anticipated!

We were able to stay in Las Vegas at the New York New York Hotel since it’s only a 3 hour drive to Zion from there. And because Vegas is fun, duh! It was the end of my busy season so I was so excited to just be on a little vacation even though I was technically “working” (even though photographing doesn’t feel like work for me… I love it so much!). We planned to leave at 2pm in Vegas so we could arrive at Zion around 5pm. It would’ve been the perfect amount of time because sunset was scheduled for 6:45pm there! But guess what? There is a time change from Nevada to Utah SO that put us back quite a little bit! I realized that right as we were leaving and was a little bit stressed out but knew everything would be fine!

We arrived to the Canyon Overlook Trail at 6pm (5pm Nevada time) and basically ran the trail we were hiking it so fast because we just wanted to get to our final destination! Luckily there was plenty of light left! And seriously, it was nothing like I’ve ever seen! Here in the Pacific Northwest, we have mountains, trees, water, and so many other things. But one thing that we DON’T have is the beautiful desert formations that Zion has. It was seriously incredible and we had the best view! It was seriously such an amazing adventure! Although I know that this will be our last major adventure with these two, I’m even more excited to see them off on their greatest one yet with their little one! And plus… we already have many different fun family sessions in the works!
